Rhythms

• Claves: Son clave, Rumba or Guaguanco clave, Bembe or 6/8 clave
• Tumbao on Congas: Tumbao Moderno 1,2, 3 Congas
• Merengue on Congas: Merengue and Bachata rhythm and variations

• Hand and Body Positions
• History of Latin Music

Outcomes?

This Course will complement the existing dance programs of Smooth Latin Groove – also for students seeking a greater understanding of Latin Grooves. Students will be able to form rhythm ensembles and interact with other students and play rhythms on various Latin American Instruments

Salsa Rueda Boot Camp

« Edit contentSalsa Rueda is a seriously fun spectacle and experience!

A Rueda can be as small as two couples, or as large as a space can hold. The couples dance in a circle executing moves called out by a leader. You will learn many easy, playful calls, such as "adios", "enchufla", or "dame". The leaders, usually the men, initiate the execution of the moves. The followers, usually the ladies, perform the moves as guided by the leaders. Salsa Rueda is like a game during which the couples continuously change partners, moving along the circle and dancing with everyone in the group. Rueda is danced to lively, up-beat salsa music, with dancers constantly moving along the circle to their next partner: Warning it is addictive!

Difficulty level
It is important that you have a solid Salsa Foundation.
Completion of Core Elements One or equivilent is recommended.

Rueda simply means” wheel”. Salsa Rueda or ‘Rueda de Casino’ is a group dance originating in Cuba.

Tune Up Dance Session 28th March

Each Tune Up Dance Session includes a one hour Workshop in two levels, followed by over two hours of social practice time.

Each fortnight a new dance style is be focused on during the workshop. While workshops will vary from session to session each includes a social practice time in Salsa, Zouk and Gafieira Samba with a dash of Cha Cha Cha & Bachata


Workshops are now split into two levels

Beginners in Studio One

Intermediate + in Studio Two

Workshops are from 7:30pm to 8:30pm
