Learning to Dance Good!

Dance Tips
If you are serious about dancing well, then here are some tips to get you the best results. These will ensure your improvement, regardless of your background or level of experience:

Basics
Practice, practice, practice your basic steps, so that you don’t have to think about them on the dance floor. If the muscles in your body remember the step, without you having to concentrate on it, your dancing can go to the next level, and you will be able to pick up new steps and concepts easily.

Social Dancing
Practice in a social environment can be very useful both when you are starting to learn dancing, and later on when you feel a bit more comfortable with the steps. Dancing socially with different people will improve your leading and following skills, helping you to become a more versatile dancer. You will develop your own unique style, and will benefit from meeting other people learning how to dance - we are not alone!

Personal / 1-on-1 sessions
This is a great way to focus on your individual needs. You can correct any bad habits, improve your technique, and take the opportunity to really soak in the moves you are learning in classes. The more comfortable you are with the material, the more you will enjoy your weekly classes! Talk to us about what we can do for you and what you would like to achieve.

Dance Music
The dance styles exist because of the music. (In this case we know which came first, the chicken or the egg!) Listening to the music you dance to in classes is an important factor in your learning progress. Even just listening to music will help you hear the beat, as well as recognise the different styles. If you can practice to it at home - even better! For some great Latin dance music, check out this link to the Smooth Latin Groove music page.
